Welcome to The Animal House Rescue

Hi guys. We have an urgent appeal!

Please before we go on, you must read to the end of the post and take on board what is said. This is important!

We desperately need a foster home for Fitz.

Fitz came to us from an extreme hoarding situation. He was filthy, slightly underweight and absolutely terrified. Not seeing anyone or having much human contact he introverted into himself to escape the horrendous living conditions he was in. 2 inches of excrement and urine on the floor, dogs in cages, many not even seeing the outside ever. Sofa and single bed dripping with urine and covered in filth and most of the dogs there running around scared and practically feral.

Fitz needs someone who has dealt with these kind of dogs before. He needs gentle boundries that are set with love not control and will allow him to come out at his own pace whilst cajoling him to trust.  He knows nothing and when he is backed into a corner becomes fear reactive. After all the years of abuse Fitz needs someone experienced with this kind of behaviour and who is willing to show him there is a beautiful world out there waiting for him.  If you would like to know more please complete the foster application form and we will talk you through it. Please no children or other animals. Fitz needs one to one training.

We are a small Birmingham based rescue, which takes in unwanted, abused and abandoned animals. All the animals that come into our care are treated for fleas, ticks, mites and worms, they also have a full veterinary 'm.o.t', and are neutered, if over 6 months, and inoculated before going to their new homes.   We do not use kennels, instead we have foster homes, which enable us to see the animals behaviour in a home environment, then any problems can be dealt with and we can re-home them to the most appropriate place. All prospective adopters will be home-checked. If you live outside the Birmingham area and would like to adopt a dog, we will need a veterinary reference and copies of two recent household bills. Please check with any rental agreements or Landlords to make sure that pets are allowed in your home.
All dogs are kept at foster homes and the adverts will show the contact name and number for that home. Please contact them in the first instance as they will be able to advise you better.  We also run a feral cat-neutering program, where feral cats are trapped and the females are spayed and the males are castrated. The cats are then released back to where they came from, as hardly any feral cats become tame. Those that do are re-homed. This helps to cut down on the number of kittens born each year, which will in turn keep the colony going.  All our work is done with the aid of donations, and street collections with all money collected going to pay for food and our massive veterinary bills. If you can help us in any way either by donations of money, blankets/duvets or food, please contact us. Also needed are volunteers to help on street collections, veterinary runs with animals (car required) and picking up food from various collection points around the Birmingham.
